Health insurance is built to cover individual mental health treatments like anxiety or depression, and it unfortunately rarely covers relational therapy. Because couples counseling focuses on the relationship dynamic and not the diagnosis of an individual it generally doesn't meet insurance criteria for coverage.

Yes, virtual sessions can be requested and are sometimes preferred for convenience.
Sometimes virtual therapy can be contraindicated for clients and your clinician might discuss potential barriers to treatment if they arise.
